Music, It Speaks to Me

Music, it speaks to me this way

Driving through the fog, listening

To the coo and lullaby sway

Music, it speaks to me this way

Summons chills only felt in May

A singer’s tongue, notes glistening

Music, it speaks to me this way

Driving through the fog, listening

A/N: I recently finished M is for Magic, a book of short stories written by Neil Gaiman. In one of the stories, “How to Talk to Girls at Parties”, there is a character named Triolet, which is also a form of poetry.

According to the Poetry Foundation a triolet is “an eight-line stanza having just two rhymes and repeating the first line as the fourth and seventh lines, and the second line as the eighth.” Upon first Google, I read that triolets may have eight syllables per line, but that does not appear to be a hard and fast rule after reading through some examples.
