Y is for Yellow Brick Road

Life’s journey —
Seeking that golden path
of smooth yellow bricks
to perfection

If only, if only

Take roads most travelled
all worn and jagged
bricks twisted, catch feet, legs stumble
won’t be happy, won’t be humble
Climb mountains with blinders
in search of gold bricks

And wander and wander
in search of it

Won’t look at trees
or people going by
Won’t look at the flowers
Won’t admire the sky
Don’t spend life’s journey
chasing a myth
Don’t wait for perfection
Don’t think of what-ifs

Better to live one’s life
before one dies.

  1. Being a ‘perfectionist’, I agree that perfectionism forces you to spend a lot of time at tasks…but hey, when you feel satisfaction after it’s done well, the time spent is usually worth it 🙂

But yeah, I see where you’re coming from. Life is too short to spend time on perfection.

    Beautifully written 🙂
